    Dr H.A. Hellyer is a senior non-resident fellow at the Atlantic Council and the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) in London. A noted scholar of religion and politics in the West, the Arab world, and southeast Asia, Dr Hellyer is also a visiting professor at the Centre for the Advanced Study of Islam, Science and Civilisation in Malaysia. The author of several books on politics, religion and security studies, Dr Hellyer is on the steering committee for GREASE with Professor Anna Triandafyllidou and Professor Tariq Modood, leading particularly on coordinating country studies on radicalisation processes in Europe, the Arab world and Asia, and contributing insights on secularism and governance of religion in the public sphere. Dr Hellyer has held positions at Harvard and Warwick universities, the Brookings Institution and was appointed as Deputy Convenor of the UK Government’s Taskforce on tackling radicalisation. He is regularly included in the annual ‘500 Most Influential Muslims’ list set up by Georgetown University, in the scholastic section.

    H.A. is a member of GREASE’s steering committee responsible for our in-depth case studies on radicalisation  H.A.is also co-leading work on our publication provisionally titled Unpacking Religion, Radicalisation and Violence: An Empirical and Conceptual Inquiry.
